My name is Paolo

I was born in Lucca, in Tuscany, and I am an artist, mainly a sculptor, although I also love to experiment in other creative fields.

The mountains and nature have always been among my greatest passions: from them stems my deep bond with wood, the element from which everything began, and then the inevitable encounter with marble.

I undertook this artistic path as a self-taught artist, letting myself be guided by sensations and emotions, just like in life.

With passion and dedication, I try to grow every day together with my art, without chasing perfection, but unconsciously tending towards it.

Welcome to my mind

My art

Paolo’s mind is a project that has evolved a lot over time, but it was born from the desire to share my creativity in its entirety, without any limits or labels.

As an artist, I have experimented a lot over the years and, even though I continue to challenge myself, I am slowly building my artistic language and learning which forms satisfy me the most and come to me most naturally.

In any case, everything starts from an idea, a thought, and often from what is happening to me during that period of my life. From there, I try to visualize how I would like the finished object to be, sometimes helping myself with drawing, although I often prefer to let myself be carried away by my mental projection and the unconscious, starting to work the piece directly without too many rules.

It all starts with an idea

Unique works of art

Each of my works of art is unique and non-replicable, for both technical and ethical reasons, and often sculpted 'four-handed' with nature, which gives me an initial shape that I maintain.

I sculpt only with significant relief, even in the smallest dimensions, in order to obtain forms that are as realistic and 'alive' as possible. Thus, even a simple pendant becomes a true wearable sculpture.

Pendants, wall sculptures, works on rock and lifeless trunks are just some of the things I can create: the only limit is that of the imagination, because matter is molded at will, with skill and patience.

Shaping matter with skill and patience

Sculpting matter

I am a simple person and I am used to making do with what I have. I detest waste and, for this reason as well, I am able to see potential in things that for many no longer have value. My sculptures, in fact, often come to life from reclaimed materials: fragments of marble or pieces of wood that, nonetheless, retain their great quality.

I am a soul from another time and I am tied to the romantic idea of mastery earned through practice and hard work, and of manual labor done with simple tools, which allow me to have maximum control over my works and to be able to create with slowness and tranquility.

In a world of robots, I keep on hammering.
